Spring has just arrived and, as the days slowly lengthen, we are sure you have already started receiving the first invitations or are getting ready for this spring's events. Our online shop is full of elegant and super glam outfits, but if you don't know which one to choose, just follow Clara’s advice – our virtual store manager ready to create the perfect look for you.
Graduation look: dress or suit? Let’s hear it from Clara
The first question we should ask is whether there’s a dress code for graduation? Yes, most Italian universities require an understated, formal look that leave little room for casual clothes. But a dress code doesn’t mean not expressing one's personality, and fashion helps and supports self-expression in every context and occasion. Some focus on the quality of the dress, others choose style and made in Italy garments, and there are also those who prefer to have fun with colours. We have tried to capture all these ideas in our collections because we want you to always be free to choose.
What does Clara think? What are her suggestions for the perfect graduation look?
“The most important thing is to feel comfortable. Although graduation is a formal event with a dress code that seems to offer little choice, it doesn’t mean you cannot customise the look.”
“Peacock green is the colour of this spring and is perfect for giving an edge even to the most serious outfit.”
“A suit is perfect for enhancing the figure, as it’s elegant and hyper feminine at the same time. To dress it down, simply pair it with a basic T-shirt and sneakers. If you want to be daring, perhaps after the graduation ceremony when you are more relaxed and ready to celebrate, simply replace the basic T-shirt with comfortable, yet invisible lingerie. The see-through effect is guaranteed and you will be at ease the whole evening.
For the style queens out there, I recommend our satin jacket with a drape that serves as a fastener, combined with straight satin trousers. The jacket's shiny inserts and loose fit make it easy to wear and it’s perfect both for the thesis discussion and the party afterwards. Elegant, comfortable and stress-free.”
“If you prefer a dress, I recommend a classic style to play it safe and be elegant and smart. I'm talking about the little black sheath dress that it perfect for every occasion. Try it with a slight drape and down to the knee, paired with a contrasting blazer or a classic double-breasted blazer for an all-black look.”
What if I have been invited to a ceremony?
“Two words: dress or jumpsuit. As a guest, you have many more options than the person doing the thesis discussion. To make sure you have a flawless, elegant and glam outfit, my advice is to opt for a dress, maybe even a maxi dress or a jumpsuit, which is both practical and elegant at the same time.”
“When it comes to spring ceremonies, I recommend going for patterns or pastel colours.”
They echo the mood of summer and adapt effortlessly to morning and evening ceremonies. This year we made a beautiful long dress with a full skirt in shades of yellow. Delicate, romantic and it can be easily worn all day long because it’s perfect with either a pair of pumps or a low jewelled sandal. What's more, our floral dress perfectly suits everyone's needs with its empire-waist cut and light satin fabric.”
Who suits a jumpsuit?
“Everyone, with no exceptions. Just choose a model that makes you feel beautiful and enhances your body shape. For example, if you have an hourglass body shape that has the waist as its greatest asset, I recommend our palazzo jumpsuit in cady fabric to be paired with a jewelled clutch.”
“On the other hand, for an apple-shaped body, which has its strong point in the lower part of the body, I recommend the light jumpsuit made of jersey in gold tones with a knot created by crossing the fabric. In this case, more neutral accessories in black are best for a glamorous and sophisticated look, perfect for a spring evening.”

By following Clara's advice, we discovered that even when the dress code is less flexible, there is always room for creativity and customisation. A dress can help us express who we are and our story, instead of follow rules that don’t fully represent us. When fashion is real, it always speaks to real women and not to imaginary models who create standards to compare oneself to. Beauty lies in the creativity with which you express yourself on every occasion.
