The 8th March marks International Women’s Day, a historic and symbolic day that we have decided to celebrate by asking ourselves a question: How can we begin to tell a brand new story that includes all women? Without a single doubt, together, we replied: by changing our view. 

Change is only really possible when something new, something authentically different enters the field. 

Every day, women are confronted with the past, with the glare of tradition, under the watchful eyes of those who want them to conform to an ideal or even a standard. And so often women themselves turn this gaze on themselves because there seems to be no alternative. But there is. 

We know this not only because we understand it, but because we have chosen it.

Our work has taught us a new way of looking at things, making each garment a useful tool for creating a new narrative. Rinascimento is a brand made of people, of women who look at other women with the desire that each of them may discover their own way of being in the world. Not a perfect way suited to circumstances, but a unique, authentic, and new way. We have been listening and the stories we have encountered have shown us once again, that this new element that we have introduced into our days is capable of making a difference, because true beauty, the one we speak for today, is found in an affectionate gaze.

What do we see when we look at our reflection in the mirror?

Monica, Art Director of Rinascimento, says: ‘All the obstacles I have encountered along the way, but that does not cancel out or negate all the goals I have achieved. Everything that has happened to me has contributed to making me the person I am.‘

Then there’s Sara, Visual Designer of our team, who looks at herself and sees all the projects she dreamed of creating as a child, but today she says she is proud of what she has achieved:

Michela, our Communication Manager, tells us: ‘I see all the time I can’t dedicate to the people I love, but I’ve learned not to feel guilty when, despite everything, I choose to spend time on myself, my passions, and my desires.’

Every face, every story, has shown us that no matter how convincing a narrative seems, it will never be more powerful than reality, and the reality is that every woman is perfectly capable of writing her own story. It has now been almost two years since we, as a brand, took on the commitment to share what we see and all the discoveries we have the privilege of making by working closely with women. We chose to share a magazine, which we named ‘Ways of being,’ to remind everyone that there are infinite ways to be a woman, and each one carries its own beauty. 

On November 25th of last year, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we wanted to share how a new beginning is always possible, though we know how complex the first steps can be. We are here, as a brand, as individuals, ready to say: ‘Let’s go on this journey together,’ taking all the necessary steps, from the first to the last, until we have a truly new perspective on ourselves and others. 

Now, for International Women’s Day, we invite you to see yourselves through our eyes. Because we have learned to look beyond the small details that too often become the focus of a gaze that can deceive, distorting the overall image. We tried to move away, to see better, and we saw a unique face, brave, fragile, strong, delicate, passionate, curious, scared, happy, sad. A genuine face. A woman is not and never will be an ideal to be achieved, but a constantly moving reality that no one can help but admire.
